Returns

At Advanced Carbide Tooling, we want you to be confident that you have ordered the correct tooling for your application.

If you are unsure about a product before ordering, please contact us on 01455 234000 and our team will be happy to help.

Want to Return an Item?

Please contact us before returning any goods.

Provide your:

  • Order number
  • Product or part number
  • Quantity being returned
  • Reason for return

Once your return has been approved, we will provide you with the relevant return instructions.

Please do not send goods back without contacting us first.

Unwanted or Incorrectly Ordered Items

For standard stocked products, returns are accepted where:

You contact us within 14 days of receiving your order
The product has not been used
The product is undamaged
The product is complete
The original packaging, labels and protective packaging are intact
The item is in a condition suitable for resale

Cutting tools, carbide inserts, toolholders, torque tools and accessories that have been used, fitted, machined with or damaged cannot normally be accepted for return unless the product is faulty.

Return postage for unwanted or incorrectly ordered goods is normally the responsibility of the customer.

Special Order & Custom Products

Products that have been specially ordered, manufactured, modified or supplied specifically to your requirements may not be eligible for return unless they are faulty or have been supplied incorrectly.

This may include:

  • Custom or special tooling
  • Modified tooling
  • Non-standard products ordered specifically for you
  • Made-to-order products

If you are unsure whether a product is a special-order item, please contact us before purchasing.

Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Goods

If your order arrives damaged, appears to be faulty or you have received the wrong item, please contact us as soon as possible.

Where possible, please provide photographs of the product, packaging and product label or part number. This helps us investigate the issue quickly.

Where a product is confirmed as faulty or has been supplied incorrectly by ACT, we will arrange an appropriate replacement, repair or refund, depending on the circumstances.

Please do not dispose of damaged or faulty products until we have confirmed that it is OK to do so.

Carbide Inserts & Cutting Tools

Because carbide inserts and cutting tools can be affected by machining conditions, setup, clamping, runout, cutting data and application, evidence of cutting-edge damage does not necessarily indicate a manufacturing fault.

If you experience an unexpected tooling failure, please contact us.

Our technical team may ask for information including:

  • Toolholder reference
  • Insert reference and grade
  • Material being machined
  • Cutting speed / RPM
  • Feed rate
  • Depth of cut
  • Machine type
  • Photographs of the insert and setup

This allows us to help identify the cause and, where appropriate, refer the product to the manufacturer for further investigation.

Refunds

Once returned goods have been received and inspected, we will confirm whether the return has been accepted.

Approved refunds will be made back to the original payment method.

Approved refunds will normally be issued to the original payment method within 5 working days of the returned goods being inspected and approved. Your bank or card provider may then require additional time to show the refund in your account.

Consumer Orders

If you are purchasing from ACT as an individual consumer rather than on behalf of a business, you may have additional statutory rights.

For eligible online purchases, returns are accepted for both defective and non-defective products. You may notify us that you wish to cancel and return your order within 14 days of receiving the goods, without giving a reason.

After notifying us, the goods must normally be returned to us within a further 14 days.

Returns should be sent by post and, unless the item is faulty, damaged or has been supplied incorrectly, the customer is responsible for the cost of return postage.

Goods should be returned unused, complete and in their original condition and packaging where reasonably possible. You may handle the goods only to the extent reasonably necessary to inspect them. We may reduce the amount refunded if the goods have been used or handled beyond what would reasonably be permitted when examining them.

We do not charge a restocking fee.

Once returned goods have been received and inspected, approved refunds will normally be processed to the original payment method within 5 working days.

Where applicable, the original standard delivery charge will also be refunded. Any additional amount paid for upgraded, express or expedited delivery is not normally refundable beyond the cost of our standard delivery service.

We do not normally offer direct exchanges. If you require a different product, the original item should be returned in accordance with this policy and a new order placed.

If an item is faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied, please contact us before returning it so that we can arrange the appropriate return, replacement or refund.

Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights.

Business & Trade Customers

Orders placed wholly or mainly for business purposes do not have the same cancellation rights as consumer purchases.

Returns of correctly supplied goods ordered by a business are therefore subject to prior approval by Advanced Carbide Tooling.

We will always try to help where an incorrect product has been ordered, provided the item is unused, undamaged and suitable for resale.
